I have been lucky enough to visit Australia on a number of occasions to work on a variety of sheep properties over the years and it was during these visits I came across the Kelpie. I was so impressed with these dogs that I purchased one; Winesland Moss in 1997 when I took over the sheep at Bearwood.
I have three Kelpies at present; a bitch Tirriki and two dogs Max and Woody.
Tirrike was bred by Woolstone Kelpies (Gloucestershire) and her sire, Okara Max was imported from Australia from the Milburn Kelpie Stud and her dam was UK bred Cwmgiedd Yakka.
Max was bred by Tracy Huxtable (Devon) and his sire, Devonairs Ace was out of an imported bitch Karmala Gidgee. His dam, Devonairs Buffy has pups in Israel, Brazil and around the UK and Ireland.
Tirrike had puppies by Max in August 2012 and a male puppy Woody has been kept.
Both dogs have good modern Australian Kelpie genetics, are good workers and are
not”headstrong”. They work well in the field and in the yard and are used to other dogs and small children. Max barks on command in the yard.
Max, Tirrike and Woody are registered with The Working Kelpie Council Of Australia
There are no plans for more litters at present.
